Ever walked into the office feeling exhausted and twenty minutes late? Don’t worry; almost everyone has done it. Starting the day in a negative way like this can cause a great deal of stress and get things off to a bad start.

You need to rewire your brain to think about the morning as a crucial part to every day. Don’t think your day starts when you get to the office.

So, what is the secret to the perfect morning routine?


Make Your Bed

Navy Seal, Admiral McRaven says that making your bed is important to success. By completing the first task of the day you hardwire your brain to succeed. One task leads into the next and before you know it you have completed all your goals for the day.


Get A Good Night’s Sleep

Okay, this might not count as part of your morning routine, but waking up will be a whole lot easier if you’ve had around 8 hours of quality sleep. Give yourself an hour to wind down before bed without any screens and don’t drink caffeine after 6 pm.


Give Yourself Plenty of Time

Make sure you don’t have to rush your morning. Give yourself plenty of time to shower, have breakfast and get to where you need to be with time to spare.

A good exercise is to wake up very early and time your normal routine and commute. Then add in a little contingency time in case anything goes wrong or if the traffic is bad.
