Best 4 reasons to visit Connecticut in spring

Connecticut is almost forgotten as a destination in New England. Many visitors to the Northeast will take the train along the coast of CT and head either to Boston or NYC for an urban adventure. As well, travelers will pass through to go to the great beaches of Cape Cod or the snowy mountains of Vermont.

It is so easy to get to CT via car, train, or plane. I-95 runs the entire southern edge of the state. You can fly to JFK, LaGuardia, Westchester, or Bradley airports and grab our airport limo service CT to get you to and from your destination in style and on time. Once in CT, check out these spring attractions.

The entire sandy coastline of CT sits on the Long Island Sound. Most municipal beaches and state parks are open and free to the public from October through May. Walking the beaches is a favorite pastime in the spring. You might want to head to Westport for some upscale shopping, a terrific seafood lunch at Longshore Club Park, and then a stroll along Compo beach, using Connecticut ground transportation to get you to and from the train station and around this quaint town.

Connecticut has some remarkable museums that are worth visiting when the spring collections are installed. Heading to New Haven is worth it for museum hopping. The Yale University Art Gallery has a great collection of European and American masterworks. The Yale Center for British Art is a building designed by iconic architect Louis I. Kahn. It has recently been renovated. The Peabody Museum of Natural History has an impressive dinosaur collection and is very educational for children.

The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk is extremely kid friendly. Exhibitions change seasonally. Mystic Aquarium, at the historic Mystic maritime village, is open year round with the beluga whales and sea lions always entertaining. Mystic is steeped in local whaling history. There are plenty of shops, dining establishments, and hotel accommodations near the aquarium.

The CT Wine Trail is a little know secret. Yes, CT has vineyards and wineries. Springtime is perfect to take a car service to the various family owned wineries when the grape vines are starting to come to life. There are always tastings happening. Most vineyards are in the same region. A favorite is Hopkins Vineyard on Lake Waramaug in Litchfield County. The countryside is breathtaking and the wine is good. You can grab lunch at the historic Hopkins Inn overlooking the lake.

Connecticut is the sleepy gem of New England that shouldn’t be overlooked. It is enjoyed in spring for its emerging flowering bulbs and tree blossoms, in summer for its sandy beaches and productive family farms, and in autumn for apple and pumpkin picking. Make the trip easy by using a chauffeur driven limo from Premier.
