4 Ways To Celebrate Thanksgiving Day in Connecticut

It's almost that time of the year again - Thanksgiving Day. The perfect reason for friends and family to gather and have a wholesome meal and enjoy a football match. You can also enjoy a holiday special delicacy at an exquisite restaurant or hit the streets for a parade. Connecticut offers all of that and more.

From fresh farm food, exquisite restaurants to community events, the Constitution State keeps Thanksgiving alive. Here's a list of ways you can enjoy a Thanksgiving in Connecticut, with or without family and friends.

Turkey Farming at Gozzi’s Turkey Farm

Time together with family and friends is always special. You can create more time together with a loved one by going turkey farming at Gozzi’s Turkey Farm in Guilford. They make it more fun by donning the turkeys with bright colors. It's best to place orders about two weeks before Thanksgiving, if possible. Lots of people want a farm fresh turkey that hasn't been frozen.

They are open from November 1st - December 24th from 8 am to 5 pm.

Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular

The Stamford Downtown Parade is one of the largest helium balloon parades in the nation. You can join the fun parade with the whole family or meet new friends there. It features popular balloon characters like Kung fu panda, Alan Kalter and more plus award-winning bands. The parade takes place no matter the weather. Dress prepared if it seems there will be a downpour. After working off calories at the parade, enjoy a Thanksgiving menu at a nearby restaurant for a refill.

The parade date is on November 19th, 2018 and steps off by 12 noon.

Go Native at Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center

Hear stories about the roots of American history at the world's largest Native American museum while breaking bread. Enjoy its ice age exhibit, take a stroll through a 16th-century Indian village, and gaze at a prehistoric caribou hunt. It also has an 18-story observation tower. The museum hosts an annual Thanksgiving buffet feast.

Enjoy a meal prepared by Native Chef Pickett in this cultural and historical setting. The food includes roasted turkey, striped blue fish venison, corn cakes with cranberry chutney and butternut squash fry bread. Enjoy a variety of soups like quahog chowder, succotash and seafood stew.

Eat Out at Griswold Inn

Established in 1776, Griswold Inn is one of the oldest continuously operating inns in America. It might have seen many years but it's anything but outdated. From classy accommodations, deluxe cuisine to its late-model amenities.

The Thanksgiving buffet is also mouth watering. It features salads like baby spinach with spiced pecans, pears, honey-lavender vinaigrette and goat cheese.

The main course features slow roasted boneless turkey legs and thighs with sausage stuffing and turkey gravy; pork loin with cider demi-glace, and warm apple compote; and baked stuffed sole with lobster sherry cream sauce. Sides include sweet potatoes, cornbread, baked Mac and cheese and more. Finish off with pumpkin pie with whipped cream, apple pie or cheesecake.
